McCauley's been in the hockey officiating game for years. He started back in the mid-90s after a short stint as a player got cut short because of injury. He quickly worked his way up from the minors to the big leagues, making his NHL debut back in 2003.

What sets McCauley apart is his knack for the dramatic. Who could forget those iconic penalty calls? And let's not overlook his sense of humor that "Five for fighting" announcement? Classic McCauley.
He's been a fixture in some of the most intense moments in recent NHL history, and fans everywhere have come to love his unique style. Even though he'll be sidelined for this semifinal round, there's no denying McCauley's left his mark on the game's playoffs so far this season. Hopefully, he has a smooth recovery and will return fully healthy for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
