Longtime goalie Keith Kinkaid had a fantastic performance at the recent 3ICE tournament, and Devils legend Ken Daneyko believes he could return to the NHL.
Iconic "Mr. Devil" Ken Daneyko was awarded the Eddie Johnston Coach of the Year for his work in leading 3ICE NY/NJ to the Patrick Cup Championship.
Keith Kinkaid was Awarded 3ICE'sTournament MVP
Former Devils goaltender Keith Kinkaid, who played for 3ICE Buffalo, was awarded the Bryan Trottier League MVP for being the tournament's most valuable performer.
3ICE is a three-on-three high-speed game, which is conducted annually in the summer at the Panthers' training facility in Florida, and it is a platform for the NHL prospects, veterans, and aspirants to show off their skills.
Ken Daneyko is still one of the Devils' all-time greats, having spent his entire career with the team, winning 3 Stanley Cups, and ending his career as the franchise leader in games and penalty minutes.
His jersey is retired in the Prudential Center rafters, a legacy all his own. His 3ICE coaching success just contributes further to his legacy in the game today.
Keith Kinkaid also left a lasting footprint in New Jersey after signing in 2012 as a free-agent undrafted signee. Playing six seasons with the Devils, before joining five other NHL teams, he had 169 career games and a .905 save percentage.
At the age of 36, a large portion of the past couple of years had found him in the AHL and ECHL, but the 3ICE MVP performance revealed that he still had a lot to give in the net, per Daneyko.
"Still have plenty to offer."
While a reunion with the Devils is not imminent, both Daneyko and Kinkaid reminded everyone of their worth.
Daneyko remains successful behind the bench, and Kinkaid's impressive performance this summer may generate interest in a return opportunity in the NHL.
