Patrik Laine has a very bright future ahead of him in the NHL, but in a recent interview he reveals that he almost quit the NHL last season.
Last off-season, the Montreal Canadiens acquired Patrik Laine from the Columbus Blue Jackets in the hopes that he could blend with their impressive young core and bring a much needed goal scoring punch to this squad.
In his first pre-season with the team, Laine suffered a knee injury that kept him out of action for a few months, but ultimately, he found his way back to the team and proved to be a valuable weapon to this forward group.
Patrik Laine reveals he almost quit the NHL last year
Unfortunately for the Finnish star, things weren't going great off the ice, as Laine has now revealed in an interview that he almost quit the NHL due to his struggles off the ice, but fortunately, he stuck with it and his time in Montreal thus far has helped him turn things around.
I told the GM and my agents several times that I was quitting. I just couldn't do it anymore.
It's great that we've gotten to this point. Now I'm enjoying life and hockey again for the first time in a long time. It's nice to be working hard. A lot of work has gone into this.
Ultimately, this is an immensely talented player that has struggled away from the ice, with those struggles being highly publicized in the hockey world, but now with his new team he's loving life again, with many fans continuing to support his journey as he looks to get back to his best both mentally and physically, with these comments showing that he's close to that.
