Barry Trotz' role in Nashville has now changed, and following the change, he revealed the reason why he stepped down as Predators General Manager.
After years as a consistent Stanley Cup Playoffs threat, the Nashville Predators have fallen in recent years, and unfortunately for them, there are many reasons behind this drastic fall, including giving big name veterans massive contracts as well as the hiring of Andrew Brunette as Head Coach.
One of those reasons, many believe was the appointment of Barry Trotz as General Manager, and after a few underwhelming years, on Monday, he made the shock announcement that he's stepping away from the role.
Following the move, Trotz opened up on several topics, with the former Head Coach turned GM revealing that he'll remain with the organization for several years as an advisor, helping the organization find his replacement as well.

Then, Owner Bill Haslam revealed the main reason why Trotz was stepping away from the role, noting that there was no issues between the two parties, but rather family desires that motivated Trotz to move on.
This is about Barry making a life decision. This has nothing to do with any disagreement with Barry or a reflection of where we are as a team. - Haslam
Ultimately though, this is the best move for Trotz and the Predators moving forward, as it's safe to say his tenure in the role was a major disappointment, and now, with the team looking likely to miss the post-season again, they'll look to find his replacement in the coming months as they continue to build towards the future.
