Ivan Demidov's arrival in North America has brought immense hype and excitement, and at this point, it appears that his debut with the Canadiens may be one of the most hyped debuts in recent NHL history, with many social media posts already about his debut on Monday.
In fact, it has gotten so wild that Dan Milstein, the agent of Demidov and many other players in the NHL has admitted that the excitement is on a level that he's never seen before.
«It's unreal. I have clients on 28 teams, but I've never seen anything like this - the excitement, but also the pressure. Even with active top players, it wasn't at this level. The whole city is going wild.»
Things just keep getting better for the former No. 5 overall pick, as Milstein also revealed that he's signed the biggest deal in the history of the brand Warrior before even making his debut.
«Yes, we've already signed a major sponsorship deal - with Warrior Sports. It's the biggest in Warrior's history. They've said Ivan will be their most important client. Today, he's playing in Bauer gear, but starting next season, he'll switch to Warrior for three years and become the face of their brand.»
While the hype is absolutely justified, as Demidov has the ability to be a top player in the NHL one day, this shows just how much not only the team and the fans believe in him, but brands as well, and brands like that aren't often willing to shell out money until it's a proven commodity.
On Monday night against Chicago, we finally see Ivan Demidov in the NHL, and after all of this hype, the pressure is on the 19-year old to perform, and if he does, there will be many more deals like this in the future.
