Montreal Canadiens get crushing injury news on Alex Newhook and Kaiden Guhle
Alex Newhook and Kaiden Guhle are two key pieces of the Montreal Canadiens, but now, the team will be without both for an extended period in crushing injury news.
The Montreal Canadiens rebuild is well and truly over, and coming into this season after the leap they took in 2024/25, many believe they could be genuine Stanley Cup contenders in the Eastern Conference, especially after their 10-5-2 start to the new campaign.
However, Thursday could be pivotal to their potential success or failure in 2025/26, with the team seeing talented forward Alex Newhook go down with an injury in their matchup against the Dallas Stars.
Alex Newhook and Kaiden Guhle to both miss significant time
Now, NHL Insider Frank Seravalli has provided an update on the talented forward, but it's not a good one for the Montreal Canadiens, as the 24-year old is reportedly set to miss four months after undergoing surgery on a fractured ankle.
This is a major loss for Montreal, as Newhook has been key in their middle-six this season, posting 6 goals and 12 points in 17 games played as he brings stability and depth to their lineup.
Not only that, but the team will now also miss Kaiden Guhle for 8-10 weeks after it was revealed he also underwent surgery to repair a torn adductor, with the injuries clearly piling up in Montreal.
This is all on top of the team already missing Patrik Laine, but with the fantastic depth of talent they've built throughout the last few years of a rebuild, they have the talent to overcome all of this, and with all three expected back well before the end of the season, the hope is that they can be 100% come playoff time as they chase another Stanley Cup.
