The Montreal Canadiens announced Wednesday that forward Owen Beck and defenseman David Reinbacher have been loaned to the Laval Rocket of the AHL.
Both young prospects were recalled earlier this month but will now return to Laval to continue their development.
Owen Beck Returns After Brief NHL Stint
Beck appeared in two games with Montreal during his latest call-up, registering two shots on goal while averaging just 7:23 of ice time per game.
The 2022 second-round selection, 33rd overall, also recorded one assist in four games with Laval earlier this season.
Returning to the Rocket should provide Beck with an opportunity to play more meaningful minutes, develop his offensive game, and strengthen his case for another NHL opportunity.
David Reinbacher Continues His Development
Reinbacher, Montreal's fifth-overall selection in the 2023 NHL Draft, played one game during his latest stint with the Canadiens.
The Austrian defenseman recorded one shot on goal in 9:09 of ice time.
Before his recall, Reinbacher registered two assists and a plus-3 rating in four games with Laval during the 2026-27 season.
With limited NHL playing time available, returning to the AHL could help Reinbacher gain valuable experience and continue improving his overall game.
These assignments shouldn't necessarily be viewed as setbacks.
Both Beck and Reinbacher remain important prospects within Montreal's organization, and regular playing time in Laval could be more beneficial than limited NHL minutes.
The Canadiens must balance immediate roster needs with the long-term development of their younger players.
For now, the focus shifts toward how both prospects respond with the Rocket and whether their performances earn them another opportunity in Montreal.
