Last night the Montreal Canadiens lost a major piece of their team after Patrik Laine was injured and now the Canadiens' head coach Martin St. Louis spoke about the game.
The Montreal Canadiens are hoping to take the next step in their rebuild and be Stanley Cup Playoff contenders in 2024-25. Last night the excitement for the season was crushed a little bit after forward Patrik Laine suffered a knee injury on a hit from Maple Leafs forward Cedric Pare.
The hit would force Patrik Laine out of the game and he was eventually seen leaving the stadium on crutches. After the game Martin St. Louis was asked about Patrik Laine and the initial diagnosis.
Let's hope it's not too serious. - Martin St-Louis, who remains hopeful.
After giving the small update on Patrik Laine the Canadiens head coach was then asked about his team's response to the incident. Specifically Martin St. Louis addressed

As the interview with Martin St. Louis continued he was asked about his team's response. The Canadiens bench boss confirmed he was proud of his team for showing they are willing to stand up for one another.
It's important to show other teams that if they want to play like that against us, we'll be able to respond. It's not necessarily about fighting, but showing team spirit.
- Martin St-Louis
Now Martin St. Louis and the Montreal Canadiens will wait patiently as Patrik Laine gets testing done on his lower-body injury. Whether Patrik Laine is out long-term or not the Canadiens have shown that injuring the team's star players will not go unpunished.
