Kirill Kaprizov's name has been out there in trade speculation as of late, but now the Wild have made it clear they aren't trading their superstar winger.

All of the talk in the NHL over the past week has been involving Kirill Kaprizov, as the Minnesota Wild reportedly began the process of trading their top star after he turned down a record breaking eight-year, $128 million deal.
However, those rumours have now been confirmed to be false by TSN's Pierre LeBrun, who revealed the latest on the Kaprizov situation in Minnesota after he turned down that deal.
Again, I did some checking on this file today as well and what I can tell you is that the Minnesota Wild are not even entertaining trade calls from teams.

Teams are obviously trying to reach out but right now the Wild, what they're telling everyone around the league, we're still trying to sign him. And they believe they can. That's important to note because I think when a player rejects a contract at that number, you kind of wonder where you go if you're the Wild.

I'm not even sure there's that many teams around the league would pay him $16 million a year. But that's how important he is to the Minnesota Wild. They still hope to sign him.

Where to for the Wild from here?

This leaves many questions up in the air for the Wild moving forward, but in LeBrun's statement, he reiterates that the intention of Guerin and the Minnesota front office is to sign Kaprizov long-term.
That likely means giving the 29-year old Russian star some type of trade protection and guaranteed money, but as of right now, unless things change from Kaprizov's side, it's more likely than not that the two sides will continue working towards a deal this off-season.
