The Minnesota Wild are a tough team to get a read on ahead of the new NHL season, as they competed hard a year ago despite a brutal injury record, and with some bright young talents coming through the organization, they could compete for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, they have now announced that one of those young stars in Matthew Boldy is now considered 'week-to-week' ahead of the new season after suffering a lower body injury.
After playing in 75 games a year ago and tallying a career high in points with 69, the team can't be without the former No. 12 overall pick for long, as Boldy is a key piece of their forward group. According to Daily Faceoff, Boldy is set to begin the year as the second-line right winger for Minnesota, playing alongside veterans Marcus Johansson and Joel Eriksson-Ek, and if they are to compete, they need all of their top names healthy.
It's unclear at this stage what the injury is for the 23-year old Boldy, but he's remained relatively healthy throughout his career, missing just 9 games over his first two full seasons in the NHL, but if he can return by the time the team open the season against the Blue Jackets on October 10, there will be plenty of optimism for this team.
