Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin Confirms Marc-Andre Fleury May Stay With the Team

The Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin confirmed that Marc-Andre Fleury could stay with the organization in another role.
Marc-Andre Fleury made his retirement official after the Minnesota Wild were eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Vegas Golden Knights in six games.
However, the legendary goalie appears ready for one last hurrah, as he confirmed he would represent Team Canada at the upcoming World Championship, alongside Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon.
But the goalie was clear at the end of the season: he won't return to the NHL as a player. He didn't close the door on returning in a different role, though.
In an interview, Fleury revealed that while his top priority will be his family for a while, he wouldn't close the door on another job with the Wild.
Here's what he said:
"I'll have to try different things, see what (Guerin) has in mind - maybe if he has something for me. I know goalies better, but I don't want to be a coach. I don't want to do media. No TV - nothing like that. I don't know if I can help the younger guys, maybe, in some ways that could be fun, too."
"But I think my first thing, though, is I wanna be home more. I want to be there for my kids' birthdays and school plays and just go walk Halloween with them and stuff like that. That's my main concern."

Guerin also provided comments on Fleury's situation, stating he wasn't sure what functions would occupy the goalie, but there will be a spot for him:
"I will have a spot for him, and what that is, I'm not sure yet. See what direction he wants to go in, but just like we did with Derek Stepan and are doing with Alex Goligoski, these guys are finishing long careers. They need some time. They need some time to decompress and do some dad stuff and husband stuff and just kind of get acclimated a little bit to retirement."

You can't be on the outside and expect success. You gotta jump right in. So, when these guys are ready, they'll do it, but, yeah, there'll be something for Flower."

Fleury and Guerin obviously have a strong relationship, and both men would clearly work well together. However, it'll be interesting to see if another team tries to offer him a job.
