David Jiricek was once seen as a player ready to make the NHL immediately, but now, he's hit rock bottom following his trade to the Minnesota Wild, as he could potentially be out for the remainder of the year.

Earlier this season, the Minnesota Wild acquired former No. 6 overall pick David Jiricek in a shock deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets, with many expecting him to make the leap to the NHL this season.
Despite being solid in six games with the NHL club, posting 2 points and a +2 differential in that time, he has once again found himself playing the majority of his time in the AHL with the affiliate club the Iowa Wild.
Now, the Minnesota Wild have had to recall a defenseman on an emergency basis, with one person on social media expecting that to be Jiricek, who is seemingly ready for a full time role in the NHL.
Unfortunately, insider Michael Russo confirmed that Jiricek has sustained an injury and that's why he wasn't chosen, revealing that he is likely to be out for a long time, which is another setback for the talented blue liner.
This could likely end an up-and-down and very confusing season for the 21-year old, who has all the tools to compete at a high level in the NHL, but for some reason, things just haven't clicked so far.
In 59 NHL games between Columbus and Minnesota, Jiricek has 2 goals and 13 points, showing he's ready to contribute, but at this point neither organization sees him as a legit NHLer, and until that changes, expect to see more intriguing moves until he finally proves that he's ready to make a genuine impact at the top level.
