Sergei Bobrovsky closed the book on his Florida chapter with a message that captured exactly why he became one of the most beloved figures in franchise history.
As he begins a new phase with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the veteran goaltender took time to reflect on what the Panthers and their fans meant to him.
Two cups behind us, so many beautiful moments in Florida and most importantly the love and support of the fans. May this new phase bring even more victories, bright moments and people who will love and support you as genuinely. Thank you for everything, Florida. And may there be many more great victories ahead.
A Legacy Built Over Seven Seasons
Bobrovsky's run in South Florida, which began with a seven-year deal signed in 2019, delivered results few could have predicted.
He backstopped the Panthers to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 2024 and 2025, cementing his place among the franchise's all-time greats.
His 201 regular-season wins during his Panthers tenure ranked third in the NHL over that stretch, trailing only Andrei Vasilevskiy and Connor Hellebuyck. He also represented the organization at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game.
Community Impact Beyond the Ice
Panthers general manager Bill Zito praised Bobrovsky's contributions off the ice, including sponsoring suites for children and other charitable efforts that were never publicized.
Now 37, Bobrovsky signed a three-year contract with Toronto and says he feels no bitterness toward Florida, only gratitude, as he embraces a new opportunity with an Original Six franchise.
Toronto welcomed him quickly, with rookie sensation Gavin McKenna surrendering his own No. 72 for Bobrovsky and former Panthers backup Anthony Stolarz reaching out to reunite as teammates once again this season.
