Brad Marchand is currently away from the Panthers, and now the amazing gesture behind his absence has been revealed as he fills in to coach youth hockey.

Recently, it was revealed that Brad Marchand was granted a leave of absence from the Florida Panthers, with the veteran winger citing a tragic loss as the reason for taking time away.
Even with the Panthers off to a 5-6-0 start to the new season, Head Coach Paul Maurice and the team believe it's the right thing to do for the person, as there's still plenty of time left in the year for Florida to turn things around.

Brad Marchand Fills In As Youth Coach in Nova Scotia

Now, we may know why Marchand is absent, as it was announced that he is set to fill in as a coach in Nova Scotia, with the March & Mill Co. Hunters organization making the announcement on social media following the tragic passing of coach JP MacCallum's daughter.
This gesture reflects the true spirit of the hockey community in Nova Scotia, one built on compassion, loyalty, and connection that extends far beyond the rink. Our thoughts are with JP, his loved ones, and the entire Hunters organization.
MacCallum is a close personal friend of Marchand, with their friendship and work on the ice going back a long, long time, and in this time of tragedy for the family, Marchand is doing the right thing by helping out.
The Panthers don't play again until Saturday November 1st, and while it's unclear if Marchand will be back in the lineup by then, this is an amazing gesture from Marchand, with the Panthers allowing him to be there in a time of grief for his friends and community back in Nova Scotia.
