Obstacle emerges in Tristan Jarry trade to Canadian team, per Elliotte Friedman
Per a new report from NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, there is a particular hangup in the chances of the Edmonton Oilers trading for goaltender Tristan Jarry from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Even though the Edmonton Oilers have now won three of their last four games, their goaltending situation remains the chief concern.
Both Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard continue to not inspire confidence that they'd be able to lead the Oilers on a third straight postseason run, and the team has been linked to multiple goalies across the NHL.
One goalie they've been linked to to is Tristan Jarry of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
But per a new report from NHL analyst Elliott Friedman, there is one particular hangup in a potential acquisition by Edmonton of Jarry.
Per Friedman, the Penguins don't appear to be willing to retain any salary of Jarry's.
There's been a lot of noise around Tristan Jarry in the last 24 to 48 hours. I do think there's legitimate Edmonton interest in Jarry, but I think it is extremely complicated and might not be possible. Mainly because Pittsburgh has indicated it will not retain [salary].

Jarry is still under contract for another two years beyond this one with an AAV (average annual value) of $5,375,000.
The Oilers Continue To Be Linked To Several Goaltenders Around The NHL
Jarry isn't the only name that the Oilers have been linked to.
Other names that have popped up in rumours include Elvis Merzlikins of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues.
One thing is clear, though. The .889 SV% of Stuart Skinner and the .851 SV% of Calvin Pickard just isn't going to get it done if the Oilers have any serious aspirations of another deep playoff run.
