Connor McDavid scored one of the early candidates for goal of the year last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, helping to spark their comeback win after being down 3-1 in the 3rd period.
The Edmonton Oilers appeared on track for another disappointing loss, this time to the Columbus Blue Jackets, who took a 3-1 lead into the third period of last night's game.
But it was Oilers captain Connor McDavid who helped put the team on his back and sparked a comeback win with an early season candidate for goal of the year in true McDavid form.
He did a full 360 spin around defenseman Denton Mateychuk, who fell to the ice, before beating goalie Jet Greaves with a backhander.
The Oilers then tied the game late after a goal from defenseman Jake Walman, which was his second of the game. Jack Roslovic scored the OT GWG, giving the Oilers a critical win.
Connor McDavid Said It Was A Big Win For His Team
McDavid, who was seen in a tense conversation with defenseman Evan Bouchard during practice after their 9-1 embarrassing loss to the Colorado Avalanche, said the win was key for them.
It was a big win. This was a big win at home before going on a long stretch here after what happened on Saturday, so it felt like a little bit more of a bigger game than you usually get in November, and I thought it showed. We hung on right to the end.
There are still major lingering questions about Edmonton's goaltending in the meantime.
