Leon Draisaitl makes his feelings clear on Mike Babcock's arrival in Edmonton

Leon Draisaitl is officially on board with the Mike Babcock era in Edmonton, and he made that pretty clear this week.

Speaking at the European Player Media Tour in Munich, the Oilers star opened up about what the controversial new head coach can actually bring to a group that has come up short of a Stanley Cup two years running.

Draisaitl pointed to a different attitude and a different mentality as the biggest thing Babcock brings to the table, adding that everyone in the room is excited about it and looking forward to getting to work.

Coming from one of the best players in the world, that kind of endorsement carries weight, especially with a coach whose hiring raised plenty of eyebrows around the league this summer.

Edmonton finished second in the Pacific last season but got knocked out in six games by Anaheim in the first round, a disappointing finish for a team that had reached back to back Stanley Cup Finals before that.

Babcock, a former Cup winner in Detroit, was brought in specifically to change the culture and hold the room accountable, something Draisaitl seems fully ready for.

Captain Connor McDavid has already called Babcock the perfect fit for this group, and now Draisaitl is echoing that sentiment.

With training camp approaching, all eyes will be on whether the new voice behind the bench can finally push the Oilers over the top.
