Frank Seravalli floated an Oilers deal for Connor Hellebuyck that would send Tristan Jarry to Winnipeg, where he'd share the crease with Stuart Skinner.
The Edmonton Oilers could take a run at Connor Hellebuyck, but a deal would hinge on Tristan Jarry agreeing to waive his trade protection and move to Winnipeg.
Sportsnet insider Frank Seravalli floated the idea in his Thursday column.
"For the Oilers, that would mean convincing Jarry to waive his trade protection to go to Winnipeg, where he'd be in tandem with the guy he was traded for 10 months ago…"

Here is the twist. Jarry would join a Jets crew that includes Stuart Skinner, the goalie Edmonton sent to Pittsburgh for him on Dec. 12, 2025.
Skinner signed a two-year, $7.5 million deal with Winnipeg on July 1 and is the likely starter while Hellebuyck sits.
Why the Oilers are even asking
Seravalli wondered what happens if Edmonton keeps struggling in goal after the debacle during Tuesday's opener.
Would the Oilers call about a three-time Vezina Trophy winner?
It comes down to whether Hellebuyck's wish to stay in the United States is a firm line or only a preference.
Hellebuyck requested a trade on Aug. 27 and was suspended on Sept. 17 for skipping training camp.
He is losing $38,659 a day, yet Winnipeg still holds the leverage because it can simply wait him out.
The cap and contract problems
Hellebuyck carries an $8.5 million cap hit through 2030-31 and has a full no-movement clause this season.
Jarry counts $5.375 million through 2027-28, which leaves a $3.125 million gap before any salary retention or extra pieces.
Winnipeg has its own reasons to hesitate.
The Jets likely do not want Jarry, and adding Skinner may have eased their need for a goalie coming back.
Even Seravalli admitted this is a longshot, though he stopped short of ruling it out.
For now, this one needs a lot to go right, starting with Jarry willingly packing up for a tandem with Skinner.
