Former referee Tim Peel heavily criticizes Oilers' goaltender Stuart Skinner
The former referee Tim Peel heavily criticized Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner as Edmonton is now one game away from being swept out of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Over the years, Peel often shared his opinions on multiple topics related to the NHL on social media, and he has officially struck again.
With the Stanley Cup Finals possibly ending tonight as the Panthers could sweep the Oilers in Edmonton, Peel pointed out that the Oilers haven't been able to win partly because of Stuart Skinner's underwhelming performances.
He mentioned that in game three, the Oilers managed to limit the Panthers to 19 shots on Skinner (23 according to NHL.com), but the goalie still allowed four goals, which isn't enough in the Stanley Cup Finals:
"I'm not blaming Stuart Skinner but this is the Stanley Cup Final. 4 goals on 19 shots is not good enough!"
Peel added that he's disappointed in the Finals and asked if the Dallas Stars would've put up a better challenge than the Oilers:
"Looks like that delayed flight really hurt the #TimeToHunt. Must have been rough being delayed eating shrimp and steak with a glass of 🍷. What a disappointing SCFinal! Would #TexasHockey have given the Cats a better challenge? This is a team that could quite easily repeat next year! #LetsGoOilers"
The Oilers are facing a hot goalie in Sergei Bobrovsky, and Skinner can't match his level.
When he replied to a fan who stated that the Final isn't over yet, he simply said:
The former ref, like many fans, believes the Panthers will win tonight and end the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
