Edmonton's Evander Kane has been in the news plenty as of late, and now, he's facing a healthy scratch following the team's poor performance against Toronto.
While Evander Kane may have not been the Edmonton Oilers top issue in their blowout 6-3 loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs, he's now been officially healthy scratched by Head Coach Kris Knoblauch.
Sportsnet's Bob Stauffer has now officially revealed that Kane will miss today's game against the Ottawa Senators, although Knoblauch revealed that it was a simple maintenance day for the veteran forward.
Evander Kane will not play today (maintenance day according to Kris Knoblauch).
Calvin Pickard starts This story certainly becomes much more notable given the argument that was caught on camera during the game between Evander Kane and superstar teammate Leon Draisaitl. Given that he's 32-years of age with the playoffs right around the corner, it makes sense that the Oilers would want to give him time to recover on the back of 67 games this season, but with the team chasing down top spot in the Pacific Division, there could be much more to this story.
For now though, Kane will sit out against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, and with a trip to Winnipeg on Tuesday to face the red-hot Jets, we may find out much more about the situation, and whether or not it has anything to do with what happened during Saturday's big loss.
