Evander Kane's NHL career has been full of classless moments on and off the ice, and in bidding farewell to Edmonton, he's shown that one final time.
The NHL's off-season is finally underway, and with the 2025 NHL Draft just a few days away, it's safe to say that things are about to get chaotic around the league ahead of a critical 2025/26 campaign for so many teams.
One team that needs to make moves this summer is the Edmonton Oilers, and on Wednesday that began as they traded Evander Kane and his entire salary to the Vancouver Canucks, getting a solid fourth-round pick in return.
After speculation emerged from Elliotte Friedman about a deal, the veteran forward confirmed the trade on his social media, penning a heartfelt thank you to Edmonton ahead of a new chapter in Vancouver.
What seemed like a nice gesture was quickly called out by fans on social media, as it was speculated that Kane wrote almost the entirety of his farewell on X with AI, showing that none of the feelings or sentiments expressed in the post are Kane's actual words.
There's a chance that this detector isn't 100% accurate, meaning this could have been real, but given his past, Kane has long lost the benefit of the doubt among fans in the NHL.
There was also plenty of fans in the post bidding farewell to Kane and thanking him for his work in Edmonton, but with the Canucks taking on his entire salary, the feeling around the Oilers is that this was a fantastic move for the team for more reasons that one, namely getting rid of Kane, who has made one final, classless move before departing.
