The St. Louis Blues recently tendered Dylan Holloway to an offer sheet, and now the NHL's top insider reveals what Edmonton plan to do about the situation.
After months of anticipation, it was the St. Louis Blues to officially tender offer sheets to Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg of the Edmonton Oilers, putting General Manager Stan Bowman in an incredibly tough spot. While the team have made no official answer on the offer sheets yet, top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has now made his prediction, revealing that it is highly likely the team will match the offer for Dylan Holloway.
«I believe the Oilers will match the offer for Holloway.»
- Elliotte Friedman
The offer from the Blues for Holloway comes in at two-years and $4.58 million over that time, and given the incredible development he showed in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, it's a wise move from the Oilers. At just 22-years of age, Holloway netted five crucial goals and 7 points in 25 playoff games, helping the Oilers all the way to a heartbreaking finish in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
While there are moves that Edmonton could make to also match the offer for Broberg, at this stage, all signs point to his future being in St. Louis, but until the seven day time period expires for Edmonton to match, we won't truly know how this is all going to play out.
