Edmonton Oilers officially buy out goaltender Jack Campbell
The Edmonton Oilers have officially bought out the contract of their goaltender Jack Campbell.
In breaking news, it was announced that the Oilers have finally decided to buy out Jack Campbell's 5-year, $5,000,000 AAV contract, after spending most of the last season in the AHL.
All season long, Campbell's departure from Edmonton has been a hot topic, and after seeing Stuart Skinner bounce back to help his team force a 7th game in the Stanley Cup Finals, finally made the move.
Campbell is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, and while his reputation took a solid hit in the past season, a few organizations could be interested to sign him, at a reasonable price of course.
If he ends up signing a contract and has a solid training camp, Campbell could return to the NHL as soon as next season. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see the goalie return to the AHL in the beginning of the season.
More to come.
