After putting goalie Calvin Pickard on the NHL waiver wire today, the Edmonton Oilers may already have eyes on their next goalie in prospect Connor Ungar, who made franchise history with the AHL's Bakersfield Condors.
The Edmonton Oilers have now officially moved on from both goalies that helped bring them to back to back Stanley Cup Final appearances, putting veteran Calvin Pickard on waivers today.
He now has 24 hours to clear, be claimed, or otherwise be sent to the American Hockey League affiliate Bakersfield Condors. The Oilers also traded Stuart Skinner to the Pittsburgh Penguins in December for Tristan Jarry, though that trade has yielded inconsistent results so far.
Speaking of the Condors, the Oilers could soon have the next hot goalie prospect on their hands. Connor Ingram, who was signed as an undrafted UFA, recently made a franchise-record 51 saves for the Condors in a recent win over the Abbotsford Canucks.
Oilers prospect Connor Ungar (undrafted) made a franchise-record 51 saves in a 3-2 win for the Bakersfield Condors last night!

The Connor Ungar story keeps getting better. He made 51 save (Condors franchise record) in their 3-2 victory last night. He's stopped 260 of 274 shots since being recalled to AHL. Has a 1.74 GAA and .949Sv% - Jason Gregor
So far this year with the Condors, Ungar is 7-1 with a .949 SV%.
The Oilers Waived Calvin Pickard Earlier Today
The Oilers decided they weren't able to wait for either Skinner or Pickard to find more consistency, and have since shown both the door.
Skinner was traded for Tristan Jarry, and now, Pickard has been placed on waivers after posting a subpar .871 SV% so far this year.
He's a pending UFA at the end of the year, and his NHL future could be cloudy.
