Edmonton Oilers Announce Terrible Injury News for Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl

Over the past few days, the Edmonton Oilers have seen three of their most important players go down with injury, with both of their top stars going down with injuries that put their Stanley Cup Playoff availability in doubt.

The first update from Head Coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed that wasn't the case however, as both are expected back in the regular season, but that doesn't mean they'll miss no time.

Reporter Jason Gregor has now confirmed that both McDavid and Draisaitl are highly unlikely to play in any of the teams three games this week against Dallas, Seattle and Calgary.

This latest update comes just a day after the Los Angeles Kings officially passed Edmonton for second spot in the Pacific Division, and if their two stars miss all three games this week, that will give them just a further nine regular season games to return in.

Given the chemistry that the two have built up with this roster over the past several years, there's no doubting that they could come back in round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and hit the ground running, but with the team looking for home ice advantage in round one, they'll be hoping the return comes sooner than that.

As of this date, there's no specific return date pencilled in for either, and given the Oilers struggles as of late, the hope is that we find out soon, and when that happens, we will keep you updated.
