McDavid's summer training footage from Gary Roberts Performance is turning heads across the hockey world with fans calling his skating unmatched.
There is not much live hockey to watch right now, so fans are doing what they always do this time of year.
Scrolling old highlights, arguing about power rankings, and hunting for any scrap of content to hold them over.
On Wednesday, Gary Roberts Performance gave them exactly that.
The training facility posted a montage on Instagram featuring some of its best known clients grinding through summer workouts.
Buried in that reel was a short clip, barely six or seven seconds, of Connor McDavid doing what only Connor McDavid can do on skates.
It did not take long for Oilers fans to find it and run with it.
He is not training alone
McDavid has company at Gary Roberts Performance this summer.
Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman have both been putting in work there, alongside other NHL names like Chris Tanev and Shane Wright.
It has become something of a hub for players looking to get an edge before camp opens.
This offseason carries a bit more weight than usual.
After a deep playoff run that fell short of the ultimate goal, Edmonton is dealing with its longest layoff since 2021.
Painful as that early finish was, it does give McDavid and his teammates extra time to recover, rebuild and train.
A reminder of what he battled back from
It is also worth remembering what McDavid has already overcome physically.
His recovery from a serious knee injury became the subject of a Sportsnet documentary, with Roberts himself noting how rare that kind of comeback timeline really was.
Clips like this one are a small reminder of how far he has come.
