Moritz Seider has weighed in on the boos raining down on Dylan Larkin in Detroit, and his answer was far more measured than many fans may have expected.

Asked about the reaction from the Little Caesars Arena crowd, the Red Wings defenseman admitted it is a tough scene to witness but refused to push back against supporters.
It's never something you want to hear, but as I've said, this is their opportunity to express their feelings and however they feel, they're gonna make them known.

What Seider's Answer Really Tells Us

Read closely, the comment is not a criticism of Larkin, and it is not a shot at the fanbase either. Seider simply accepts that fans have every right to voice their frustration.
It is a classic dressing room response, one that keeps the focus on the ice instead of the noise surrounding it.
It is also worth noting what he did not say. Seider did not defend the booing, but he did not join it either.
He stayed out of a messy situation that began when Larkin requested a trade, and the team has previously made clear it stands behind its captain.
The backdrop matters. Detroit missed the playoffs for a tenth straight season, and Seider posted a career-high 60 points, and the fanbase is hungry for results. Frustration is understandable, and Seider appears to recognize that.

What Happens Next

Detroit now enters a tricky stretch. Larkin remains on the roster while the trade situation lingers, interim GM Shawn Horcoff reportedly may look to repair the relationship, and the home crowd is clearly restless.
Seider, one of the franchise cornerstones, is being asked to be a steady voice in the middle of it.
For now, his message is simple. Fans will react however they react, and the players will keep working.
Whether the boos fade depends on wins, and on how this saga is ultimately resolved. Seider has made his position clear: he respects the fans, and he is not picking a fight with his captain.
