This afternoon, the Detroit Red Wings lost to the Minnesota Wild in crushing fashion leading fans to turn on Patrick Kane on social media.
The Detroit Red Wings have found themselves in a desperate push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs after struggling over the last month of the season.
Sitting outside the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, the Red Wings have found themselves in a spot where almost every game is a must win.
Today, the Red Wings came out flat against the Minnesota Wild going down 4-1 early in the contest.
The Red Wings knowing how important this game was would claw back to tie things up late on a crucial goal from Patrick Kane his 15th of the season.
However, just a short time later, Kane would take a crushing penalty that would ultimately cost his team the game.

With under four minutes left in a tie game both teams were looking to break the deadlock.
Patrick Kane was back out on the ice looking to be the hero one last time but instead he would catch Wild defenseman Quinn Hughes with a completely unnecessary hook.
The Wild would go on to score on the ensuing power play breaking the hearts of Red Wings fans.

In the social media frenzy, some fans were filled with rage while others felt empathy for Kane in such an embarrassing moment.
Patrick Kane, after scoring the tying goal in a wild 3 goal comeback, takes one of the most needless, stupid penalties I've ever seen late in the 3rd period, leading to a Minnesota goal & a regulation loss for Detroit with their season on the line.
With the loss, the Red Wings now sit tied for the final playoff spot in points but on the outside looking in with five games to go.
If the Red Wings go on to miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs, this absolute blunder by Kane will be looked back upon as one of the biggest reasons why.
