Through 16 games this season, the Detroit Red Wings have posted a 7-8-1 mark, and for a team looking to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, that's certainly not the ideal start.
One positive for this team has been the top pairing of Simon Edvinsson and Moritz Seider, who have clearly become a key part of the future of the Detroit Red Wings organization.
While Seider was a known commodity, the same can't be said about Edvinsson, but after a great start in which he's posted 6 points and a +3 differential, while also sitting second on the team in blocked shots, he's clearly arrived.
Unfortunately, it was one of those blocked shots that has now seemingly taken him out of action, as it happened late in the second period during their Friday night loss, with the 21-year old ultimately unable to return to the game despite his best efforts.
When asked about an update on his situation on Saturday, Derek Lalonde revealed there was yet no update, with the team potentially turning to Justin Holl if the rising star indeed misses any time.
In Detroit, it's clear that Edvinsson has become a fan favourite with his gritty style of play alongside Seider, and although the team overall is struggling, he is a major part of giving this team hope for a long time to come.
We will wait for an update on the situation, but for now, it appears the former No. 6 overall pick could miss a game or two, and given how important every point will be for the Red Wings this season, that's a very bad sign.
