Today, Columbus Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner made a shocking move as he decided to part with his longtime agent just before he hits free agency.
The Columbus Blue Jackets endured a disappointing campaign and will look to enter the 2026 offseason looking to change up their roster.
As part of that change, Captain Boone Jenner is expected to hit free agency and test his options at signing elsewhere at 32 years old and finally cash in on a big contract.
Jenner was expected to be once again represented in contract negotiations by agent Joe Resnick but that will no longer be the case as Jenner has unexpectedly fired him.

According to a report from The Athletic, Jenner has relieved Resnick of his duties and hired highly respected agent Pat Norris of Newport Sports Management one of the most well respect agencies in the world.
The Athletic recently learned from multiple sources close to Jenner that he has fired his longtime agent, Joe Resnick of Top Shelf Sports Management, after the better part of two decades together.
Jenner is now represented by agent Pat Morris of Newport Sports Management, an interesting move to make only six weeks before he can hit free agency.

It seems that Jenner is preparing for a big free agency moment where he will cash in and take the biggest offer he can find.
This likely means that Jenner's time in Columbus is coming to an end after spending his entire 13 year career with the Blue Jackets so far.
As free agency gets under way, it will be interesting to see who takes interest in Jenner and how big of a deal his agent can get him.
