Tonight the Colorado Avalanche have encountered a nightmare scenario as superstar Nathan MacKinnon has been forced to the locker room with a lower-body injury.
The Colorado Avalanche got major reinforcements heading into Game 3 as defenseman Cale Makar returned to the lineup after missing two games due to injury.
However their positive injury luck did not last long as early on in Game 3 Nathan MacKinnon blocked a shot and went down in serious pain.
MacKinnon would stay on the bench for a while and even take a couple of shifts to test out his injury but would ultimately be forced to head to the locker room.
MacKinnon was in clear discomfort and seemed to be favoring his lower leg worrying many fans as he left the ice to be evaluated.

Luckily, MacKinnon would be checked out and has now been able to return to the ice to try and test things out again.
However, after just one shift it seems MacKinnon is still struggling through some discomfort and does not have the same power and speed to his skating stride as he would normally have.
It seems MacKinnon will try and tough it out and continue to play but his health and injury status will now be something to monitor closely for the rest of the Western Conference Finals.
MacKinnon has now moved to the end of the bench and seems as though he will be a spectator for the remainder of the game with an occasional power play shift if anything.
After the game, all eyes will be on head coach Jared Bednar to give an update on MacKinnon's injury and potential status for game 4.
As more news is provided on MacKinnon's health we will pass the latest details along to you.
