Jared Bednar faces backlash after three-word Cale Makar update following sports doctor's diagnosis

Cale Makar is now a louder Avalanche story because Jared Bednar tried to calm it down with three words.
The quote was blunt:
"Cale is ok."
- Jared Bednar
- Jared Bednar
That's the kind of line coaches use in May when they want the room moving forward, not stuck replaying a scare frame by frame.
But this one landed differently because the clip didn't look clean. Makar left Game 5 after contact from Mats Zuccarello, and Colorado's blue line suddenly became the story.
The first video showed Makar taking contact, protecting the upper-body area, and moving like a player trying to get off the ice without giving away too much.
That is why Bednar's answer didn't close the file. It opened a bigger one.
Bednar's wording put the pressure back on Colorado
A sports doctor had already floated a suspected separated shoulder after Makar took a hit from Klapka on March 30.
That doesn't make a diagnosis. It does explain why fans connected the dots so quickly after seeing Makar look limited again.
This is where strategy matters. Bednar doesn't owe the public a full medical chart, but he does have to manage trust when his top defenseman looks compromised.
Makar had 20 goals and 79 points in 75 games, then opened the playoffs with 4 goals in 6 games. That isn't replaceable usage.
He also played 25:50 in Colorado's 4-3 overtime win over Minnesota on Wednesday, with no shots on goal. Makar usually tilts shifts, even when he doesn't score.
Colorado can survive vague answers for a day. It can't survive Makar looking restricted if the next series turns into a special-teams battle.
Bednar tried to lower the temperature. Instead, he made every next shift from Makar feel like evidence.
