Gabriel Landeskog finally took to the ice again with the AHL's Colorado Eagles, but now his time is done and we await his next move with the Avalanche, which could involve a return for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The NHL has been eagerly anticipating the return of
Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog for quite some time now, and over the past week, he finally took to the ice again.
In two games with the AHL's Colorado Eagles, Landeskog tallied 1 goal and 2 points, and while he didn't look back to his old self, given that it was his first game since 2022, he looked fantastic.
Now, the long-time captain has officially ended his time with the Eagles, as the Avalanche announced that his conditioning loan has come to an end, and with the Stanley Cup Playoffs right around the corner, he returns to the NHL squad.
While it has not yet been confirmed that No. 92 will take the ice for their first matchup with the Dallas Stars, after getting through his AHL stint without injury, all signs are pointing towards his first NHL game since the team clinched the Stanley Cup back in 2022.
After going through plenty of injury turmoil in the last three years, it's been tough for Landeskog and his family, but he has continued to persevere, and now, he's on the verge of finally rejoining his team.
While he may not be the player he once was immediately upon his NHL return, the boost of finally having their captain back will be huge for Colorado, and with such a loaded squad around him, this team could be seen as the favourite in
the Western Conference.
