The Colorado Avalanche came up short in a dramatic clash with the Blues on Saturday, and after the game, their Head Coach blasted the NHL officials.
As of late, the Colorado Avalanche have been on a roll, and with the Stanley Cup Playoffs right around the corner, this is once again a team that's shaping up to be genuine Cup contenders in 2025.
On Saturday night, they had the chance to flex those muscles against a division rival in the St. Louis Blues, but with some dubious calls from the officials, the Avalanche fell short, dropping a tight one 2-1.
After the game, it wasn't a missed call that went unnoticed by Head Coach Jared Bednar either, as he put the referees on blast for the blatant missed call.
«You can shoulder him as hard as you want, you can blow him up and put him into next week, I'm fine with it. But if you're gonna take your hand and hit him in the head it's a penalty.»
Almost immediately, Bednar stopped himself from going too far by simply walking away from the press conference after this, and whether or not it was the worst punch/shove to the head you've ever seen, it was a clear penalty that was missed by the officials.
This is something that may still land Bednar in trouble, but after his team was robbed of a clear power play, he has to stand up for them, and we now wait and see whether or not the NHL will have something to say about Bednar's comments.
