This afternoon, reports are surfacing that the Chicago Blackhawks and Connor Bedard have reached an agreement on a massive extension.
The Chicago Blackhawks have had a busy offseason to this point led by the sign and trade for defenseman Bo Byram from the Buffalo Sabres.
Then, unfortunate news surfaced regarding former number one overall pick Connor Bedard as he suffered an injury that required surgery and will keep him out four months.
Now, the Blackhawks provided some good news on Bedard as they have re-signed him to a massive extension.

According to multiple reports, the Blackhawks and Bedard have agreed to a five-year extension worth $15 million per season.
It seems as though the Blackhawks saw the offer sheet scare that the Anaheim Ducks recently went through with both Leo Carlsson and Pavel Mintyukov and decided not to delay a long-term deal for Bedard.
Bedard cashes in at just 21-years-old after a breakout season in which he tallied 75 points in 69 games finally showing flashes of the generational player many have expected him to be.
This deal was always expected to get done but by waiting late into the summer the Blackhawks likely costed themselves valuable cap dollars as Bedard's price skyrocketed after the offer sheet frenzy over the last several weeks.
Now, Bedard and the Blackhawks will face increased expectations for the upcoming season as GM Kyle Davidson made moves this summer to push the Blackhawks into playoff contention mode.
As the season gets underway, it will be interesting to see how Bedard handles the pressure and what Kyle Davidson can do to continue surrounding him with talent.
