Connor Bedard faces backlash for antics at World Championship
Connor Bedard is flying high for Team Canada at the 2024 IIHF World Championship, but his antics seem to be rubbing some the wrong way.
Through three games at the World Championship, Connor Bedard ranks second in the tournament with five goals and six points alongside a +4 differential, and he's going to be pivotal in Canada potentially winning gold once more. His play on the ice has simply been stellar, and while some people have an issue with players over celebrating, Bedard faces criticism for the exact opposite;
I said I don't like it.and to celebrate goal is normal.non celebration is more disrespectful the celebrate it.he is a f**king player though
That comes from 15-year NHL professional Jakub Voracek, who believes celebrating with passion is good, while Bedard lack of excitement is disrespectful. At this point, it appears the 18-year old can't win either way, as some will criticize him for going over the top and others will take offense when he doesn't celebrate, so at this point, he needs to keep doing what he wants as long as the success follows.
Thankfully, not everyone sees it like that, as Bedard is clearly focused on success and is not happy with a goal or two, whether he's playing in the NHL or internationally, and for Team Canada looking to chase gold, they should be very proud of the way he's played thus far.
