Chicago Blackhawks Place Experienced Winger on Waivers

The Chicago Blackhawks are off to a surprisingly solid start thus far in 2025/26, and with the likes of Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar seemingly playing well, the future is very bright for this organization.

Around those two young stars, this team is full of veterans, but with the team looking to push for the future, there are many spots available for prospects of the future to get their opportunities.

However, there's one player that simply hasn't seized his opportunity in Chicago, and that is former third-round pick Joey Anderson, who has played in 97 games with the team over the past three seasons.

Unfortunately, he hasn't impressed in that time, and now, with the intention of sending him back to the Rockford Ice Hogs of the American Hockey League, they have officially placed him on waivers.

Several times over the past few seasons, Anderson has been waived by the Blackhawks and cleared through every time, and after posting 17 goals and 27 points in 33 games in the AHL last season, it's easy to see why Chicago want him to remain with the organization.

At 27-years of age, the former third-round pick has gotten opportunities in the NHL with both New Jersey and Toronto before arriving in Chicago, and simply put, he hasn't taken any of them, and while he's a solid depth piece, as of right now, it appears as though that may be all he can be at the professional level after being waived again.
