Blackhawks sign Connor Bedard line mate Lukas Reichel to extension
The Blackhawks have the centrepiece of their rebuild, and while they've got plenty of moves to make, they've locked up one of his line mates to a long-term deal.
After landing the No. 1 pick last season, the Chicago Blackhawks landed generational star Connor Bedard, and now they are looking to build a contender around him. It's going to take some time, but the team are confident in his line mate Lukas Reichel, who has now officially inked a long-term deal.
The deal is reportedly for two-years, carrying an annual cap hit of $1.2 million, as they look to put faith in a promising young player who struggled in his first full season at the NHL level.
After putting up 7 goals and 15 points in 23 games in 2022-23, Reichel took a step back in production a season ago, managing just 5 goals and 16 points in 65 games played, but with sheer speed, the Blackhawks are confident they may have a key piece of their future.
At just 21-years of age, Reichel has a very bright future, and for the Blackhawks to get him under contract at just $1.2M per season, it's a great deal for both parties as they look to build their next big dynasty.
