Looks like Artyom Levshunov's Blackhawks debut is going to have to wait. The team announced on Wednesday that the 2024 second-overall draft pick is out with a foot injury he got during practice, just before joining the squad, and this was confirmed by insider Elliotte Friedman.
IceHogs head coach Anders Sorensen, who's working with the prospects this week, said that the team will issue an update from him after practice today, which has fans waiting nervously at the edge of their seats.
That injury, per Mark Lazerus of The Athletic, will keep him out of the prospect tournament and put in jeopardy his chances to make the 23-man roster for the Blackhawks' October 8th opener against the Utah Hockey Club. An 18-year-old defenseman last season for Michigan State, he had nine goals and 26 assists in 38 games. He may well begin the 2024-25 season in the minors, even if he makes the NHL team out of camp.
More updates on Artyom Levshunov's health will be provided as the details are released.
