Carolina Governor Cooper trolls Islanders after Hurricanes series win
The Carolina Hurricanes made swift work of the New York Islanders in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. As a result the Governor of North Carolina Roy Cooper decided to troll the Islanders for the lack of success in the playoffs.
The Carolina Hurricanes are considered one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup this season. This made their series win over the New York Islanders fairly unsurprising. After the Hurricanes' win the Governor of North Carolina Roy Cooper took to X to thank the Islanders for a good "warm up" series.
Always appreciate the @NYIslanders for the Stanley Cup playoff warm up. 12 to go.
North Carolina's governor sends a shot across the bow at the #Islanders
As Roy Cooper mentions the Carolina Hurricanes are now 4 wins closer to a Stanley Cup but remain 12 wins away. Their next 4 wins will also have to come at the expense of the city of New York if they are to move on. The Hurricanes will face off against the President's Trophy-winning New York Rangers in the second round.
As the playoffs progress it will be fascinating to see if Governor Cooper continues his trash-talking ways.
