Nazem Kadri's future in Calgary has been a major talking point this off-season, and now a top NHL Insider believes that he could be pried from the Flames.
The Calgary Flames came into this off-season expecting to be big sellers, with the likes of
Rasmus Andersson,
Blake Coleman and Nazem Kadri all veterans the team could potentially part ways with.
While an Andersson trade will likely happen and a Coleman trade should happen, the wild card in all of this is Nazem Kadri, whose value is quite high at this point, but with a no-trade clause, he controls his fate and his future in the NHL.
As of late, there's been speculation that he could look to leave the Flames, and according to Nick Kypreos, the Flames may be understanding the marketplace and considering a move of Kadri, although they are yet to approach the veteran star.
In three seasons with Calgary, Kadri has played every single game possible with the team, posting a career high of 35 goals in 2024/25 with 75 and 67 points over the past two years.
Along with that, he's one of the best big game players in the NHL, and unfortunately, it appears he won't be playing any big games with Calgary in the near future, meaning that there's a chance he pushes GM Craig Conroy for a trade at some point in the near future.
Ultimately though, this may be the last off-season that he has high value for the Flames, and if a team like Toronto, Montreal or another contending team with a centre issue comes calling and Kadri is open to a move, it appears as though he may potentially be available.
