Kevyn Adams and the Buffalo Sabres have just made a major trade, sending young forward JJ Peterka to the Utah Mammoth, getting Josh Doan and other player in return.
While Seravalli has been criticized for breaking trades early and occasionally getting them wrong, it appears as though he was right on the money this time.
Fellow insider Elliotte Friedman, perhaps the most trusted in the entire league, has since confirmed the deal, adding the return for Buffalo.
Friedman noted that the Sabres got Mammoth forward Josh Doan and defenseman
Michael Kesselring in return for the 23-year-old.
Peterka is certainly the best player involved in the trade as he just came off a 27-goal, 68-point season with the Sabres.
Doan is arguably the most significant part of the return for Buffalo, but he had just 7 goald and 19 points in 51 games for Utah last season.
Kesselring had 7 goals and 29 points in 82 games for the team in his first full season of NHL action.
Fan response to the trade is fairly unanimous, with the prevailing opinion being that the Mammoth won this deal by a wide margin.
They certainly got the best player, and Peterka has been steadily improving since he joined the league, so it wouldn't be shocking to see him continue to improve his production in his first year with his new club.
The German forward easily has 30-goal, 70-point upside and could potentially even turn into a top-line player in Utah.
Meanwhile, Doan and Kesselring figure to be depth pieces for Buffalo, although you never know what players might unlock after coming into a new system.
