Jeff Marek Links John Tortorella to One Specific Eastern Conference Team
NHL Analyst Jeff Marek has linked John Tortorella, who most recently coached the Philadelphia Flyers, to a specific Eastern Conference team that is struggling heavily right now.
The Buffalo Sabres got off to an 0-3 start before they finally got the monkey off their backs with an 8-4 win over the divisional foe Ottawa Senators on Wednesday.
But there remains plenty of discussion as to how much longer both GM Kevyn Adams and head coach Lindy Ruff have left before maligned owner Terry Pegula decides enough is enough and makes a change.
NHL analyst Jeff Marek recently speculated that former Columbus Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen, currently a senior advisor, could replace Adams as the GM and also suggests that John Tortorella could potentially be hired.
Jeff Marek: Re Sabres rumours: Do we see Jarmo Kekalainen in [as GM] and does he bring a former Buffalo Sabre assistant coach...John Tortorella with him? - Daily Faceoff Live (10/14)
John Tortorella recently spent the last handful of years behind the bench of the Philadelphia Flyers, but never made the playoffs
and was terminated by Flyers GM Daniel Briere with a few games remaining last season when it was clear that there'd be no playoff appearance.
Kevyn Adams Continues to Face Scrutiny in Buffalo
With each passing year that the Sabres don't make the playoffs, the scrutiny on GM Kevyn Adams continues to grow.
Right now, Adams could be faced with having to trade one or more top players who are rumoured to potentially want a new professional situation if Buffalo's losing ways don't turn around soon.
Names like
Tage Thompson and
Rasmus Dahlin have been tossed into the rumour mill, and additional names could join them if things don't turn around.
But for now, Adams remains a controversial figure in Buffalo sports circles.
