The Buffalo Sabres have finally broken their playoff drought and today the team posted an emotional video narrated by late play-by-play announcer Rick Jeanneret.
The Buffalo Sabres came into the 2025-26 season looked at by many as the laughing stock of the NHL not having made the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2011.
After a bad start to the season, many once again counted them out from making the playoffs including the crew at Spittin Chiclets.
Starting in December, the Sabres went on an absolute tear and clawed their way back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Led by years of top draft picks including former number one overall picks Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power the Sabres have clinched a spot and are expected to be a contender in the Eastern Conference.
Now, the team has posted a video to celebrate the playoff berth narrated by former Sabres legendary announcer Rick Jeanneret who sadly passed away in 2023.

The Sabres after officially clinching, posted a video chronicling moments from the drought and the last time the team made the playoffs.
Even more special, the video was narrated by Rick Jeanneret using audio he had recorded in 2021 before his passing in 2023.
Jeanneret was the voice of the Buffalo Sabres for 51 years including many of those drought years before he ultimately retired calling his last game in April of 2022.
The video has generated a ton of appreciation from Sabres fans and others across the league who miss Jeanneret’s iconic voice.
While Jeanneret will not be there to call the Sabres return to the playoffs, he will be remembered and honored during every stage of the playoffs this season by the Sabres and their fans.
This moment from the Sabres is just another reminder of just how much sports can mean to people and the community it can create.
The Sabres who have not had a playoff game in 14-years will now finally get their moment to celebrate and cheer on their team as the playoffs return to Buffalo in 2026.
