The Winnipeg Jets won a one-sided contest with the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, and it was highlighted by a chaotic few minutes late in the third period with not one, not two but three fights breaking out.
Despite leading 5-1 in the third period, the Winnipeg Jets and Boston Bruins were in a highly competitive contest late in the game, a game that ultimately descended into absolute chaos.
After physical play all game, it was fourth-line center
David Gustafsson who stepped up, fighting way out of his weight class against
Trent Frederic, and unsurprisingly, Frederic dropped him with ease.
Then, it was
Logan Stanley and Mark Kastellic in a heavyweight showdown, with both men landing big-time shots before the officials stopped it.
Last but not least was the most intriguing of all, as
Nikita Zadorov and Jets captain
Adam Lowry would drop the gloves just moments later, and once again, neither man got the advantage in a spirited contest.
That wasn't all however, as Jets coach Scott Arniel and Bruins bench boss Joe Sacco didn't shy away either, as footage captured them jawing back-and-forth in a very intense way as things kept devolving late in the game.
This was the first meeting of the two teams this season, and given that their next meeting will come in Boston, it's safe to say that
Brad Marchand and his squad will be very ready for their next matchup in late January.
Ultimately though, this was one to forget beyond the fighting for the Bruins, as they would ultimately fall 8-1 after the Jets added three late goals, but with the fight the Bruins put up, they will be happy with the way they stood up for themselves throughout the painful loss.
