Boston Bruins Top Prospect Fabian Lysell Out After Significant Injury
The Boston Bruins are looking to go on a deep playoff run this year. However, they will be without top prospect Fabian Lysell after he suffered a serious injury in his last game in the AHL.
Bruins top prospect to miss 'significant' time after injury
The Boston Bruins have one of the weaker prospect pools in the entire NHL. Unfortunately for them, that pool just took a hit after top prospect Fabian Lysell left his last game in the American Hockey League with a serious injury.
This is not good. Fabian Lysell goes into the boards extremely hard and is down. Hellberg immediately waived to the trainers to help out.
Providence Bruins head coach Ryan Mougenel provided an update on the winger after the game. He specifically said that Lysell will likely miss 'significant' time with the injury. Considering the season is nearly over, this could very well mean that Lysell will miss the rest of the regular season at the very least.
Ryan Mougenel on Fabian Lysell: "He's gonna miss, probably, significant time, I would imagine. It's disappointing. He was starting to play really well"
Lysell was drafted in the first round, 21st overall by the Bruins in 2021. Since then he's had a unique development path, joining the Vancouver Giants of the WHL for his draft+1 season before making the jump to the AHL last season. He has 15 goals and 50 points for the Providence Bruins in 56 games played this year. It has been an unusual year for the Bruins, who have dealt with significant off-ice distractions as well as a tight playoff race for the top spot in the Atlantic Division. Hopefully, Lysell's injury does not hurt their playoff run, although he likely wasn't going to play a major role anyways.
