The Boston Bruins are on the verge of trading their goaltender, Linus Ullmark, the 2022-23 Vezina Trophy winner.
With Jeremy Swayman stepping up as the primary goalie during the playoffs and Ullmark's contract expiring after next season, a trade seems almost inevitable.
Ullmark may have a new home for the 24-25 season
The Bruins have several gaps to fill this summer, and trading Ullmark could address at least one of their needs. At the upcoming draft, Boston holds only three picks, with none in the first round. Acquiring a top pick would help them replenish their prospect pool.
This timing aligns perfectly with the New Jersey Devils' GM Tom Fitzgerald's recent announcement. He's open to trading their 10th overall pick for a goaltender, stating:
"If it helps us now and in the foreseeable future, then yes, I'm listening."
Although Fitzgerald hasn't received any offers yet, he emphasized the need for a significant trade.
Other goalies like Calgary Flames' Jacob Markstrom and Nashville Predators' Juuse Saros are also on the market, potentially catching the Devils' interest. If the Devils opt for one of these goalies, the Bruins could still trade Ullmark for a much-needed top-six forward.
