Some believed Joel Quenneville would never coach in the NHL again, but now, his return to the league has been confirmed with an intriguing young team after several rounds of interviews this off-season thus far.

Joel Quenneville future in the NHL was all but over after the scandal that led to his departure from the Chicago Blackhawks, but after Stan Bowman was hired by the Edmonton Oilers last summer, the expectation was that he would return very soon.
Now, that return has been confirmed, with TSN's Darren Dreger now reporting that he will officially becoming the next Head Coach of the young, up-and-coming Anaheim Ducks.
The official announcement from the team is expected later today, and after the team moved on from Greg Cronin early this off-season, this is the exact type of hire from a hockey perspective that this team needs.
With a young core of Trevor Zegras, Troy Terry, Leo Carlsson, Mason McTavish, Jackson Lacombe and others, this team is ready to take the next step, and with another high draft pick along with money to spend in free agency, this move may influence this team in a positive way.
Many fans however will not forget Quenneville's role in the scandal that saw him leave the Chicago Blackhawks a decade ago, and no one can blame them for not forgiving the Head Coach.
From a purely hockey perspective however, this is the perfect hire for a young team looking to take the next step, and while they may need a major addition or two to truly become a Stanley Cup Playoffs threat, but now, they've got the first piece of the puzzle to make that happen.
