The Ottawa Senators have done a great job getting some quality prospects these past few years since committing to the rebuild, but while many fans thought this might finally be the year they compete for a playoff spot, they are sadly back sitting in the bottom 5 of the league.

Over the last 3 seasons with the Minnesota Wild Kevin Fiala has scored 128 points 156 games, more than any Ottawa Senator during that time. Fiala could be one of the missing pieces to the puzzle for the Senators.
Fiala is in the final year of a deal that pays him $5,100,000 but will remain an RFA. Thanks to the buyout of Zach Parise & Ryan Suter, the Minnesota Wild simply do not have the cap space to resign this 25 year old to the money he deserves, which could help the Ottawa Senators get this great player at a discounted cost!
