Toronto Maple Leafs Trade Ryan Reaves to Western Conference Team
The Toronto Maple have traded famed enforcer Ryan Reaves to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for young defenseman Henry Thrun.
Only two days after an insightful interview, where Ryan Reaves revealed his final career goal was to play 1000 games in the NHL, from which is he is only 88 games away, he has been traded to the San Jose Sharks.
Sharks GM Mike Grier said the following after Reaves' acquisition:
«We're excited to welcome Ryan to the organization. He will bring energy, personality, physical play and toughness to our group. He has been a part of many winning teams, and I witnessed firsthand the positive impact he can bring to a group when I was with the Rangers.»
Armed with young talent like 2024 first overall pick Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, and much more, Reaves will present a dangerous physical factor.
In an era where physicality is being looked at more than in prior years, thanks to the success of the rugged and gritty the San Jose Sharks, adding a true grinder like Reaves will instil strong values into the youth.
His 912-game NHL record may only have 137 points to show for it, but he has accumulated a whopping 110 penalty minutes!
As for Thrun, he has shown a lot of promise at a young age. He is a savvy acquisition for Leafs GM Brad Treliving.
